A full history check, in Roadworthy

Before you buy a used car, find out whether it has a finance agreement on record, is on the insurers' write-off register, or is recorded as stolen. One car, one report, £6.99, and the report is yours to keep.

Get it on Google Play

See a sample report: three made-up examples, with the words the app shows.

Offered by Happy Path Apps Ltd. Bought through Google Play, which takes the payment and accounts for the VAT. Google Play's terms also apply.

A full history report, with what it found first: recorded as stolen, a finance agreement on record, and recorded as a write-off, Category N

What it checks

What the full history check tells you

Data provided by Experian:

  • Whether a finance agreement is on record for the car.
  • Whether it's on the insurers' write-off register, and any category.
  • Whether it's recorded as stolen on the Police National Computer.
  • How many keepers it has had, and when it last changed hands.
  • Any change of number plate or colour.
  • Whether it's recorded as scrapped, exported or imported.

And free in Roadworthy, as for any car, from DVLA and DVSA: its tax and MOT, every MOT result with the mileage at each test, and every advisory.

Limits

What it can't tell you

  • It's a check of records. Something that was never recorded, or recorded wrongly, won't show.
  • It doesn't tell you the car's condition. Look it over, or have it inspected.
  • It doesn't tell you whether the seller is the keeper. Check the log book against the seller and the car.
  • It shows the records on the day you check. Check again if you buy later.
  • It can't show whether a car is a clone carrying another car's identity. Check the VIN on the car against the log book.

If part of the check doesn't come back

If a part of the check doesn't come back, or comes back incomplete, the report marks that part "Not checked", so you never mistake it for a clear result. Email happypathapps@gmail.com and we'll check that part again for you. If no report can be made at all, we refund you through Google Play.

Before you buy

What you're buying

  • One car. One check of one registration, for £6.99 including VAT, paid through Google Play. No subscription.
  • Yours to keep. The report is saved in the app, dated the day you checked it. It stays until you delete the report itself: deleting the car doesn't delete it.
  • No guarantee. The check comes with no data guarantee.

The terms of sale say what you're agreeing to, including your right to cancel and when you lose it. The privacy policy says what is sent where when you buy a check.
